Since 2002, Gulf Eye Center’s highly qualified ophthalmologists and optometrists/ O.D.’s have been successfully treating a wide range of eye conditions using the most advanced techniques.

2019
1996

Beginning

After taking early retirement from being the head of an Ophthalmology Department in a large hospital in Pretoria, South Africa, Dr. Millicent was commissioned to open the first eye department in a private hospital in Muscat in the Sultanate of Oman.

1997

Dr.Millicent pioneered the first LASIK surgery in Oman and quickly became the surgeon of choice for this procedure.

2002

Dr. Millicent opened the Gulf Eye Center in the Fairmont Hotel in Dubai as a prime LASIK and eye surgery destination for the residents of the UAE and region.

2006

A new procedure called Crosslinking was introduced for the first time in the Middle East – it strengthens damaged eyes. Dr. Millicent also started consulting in other clinics in the city, and performing surgeries in various hospitals.

2012

The Gulf Eye Center introduced Orthokeratology – commonly referred to as Ortho-K. This is a simple reversible procedure where custom made hard contact lenses are worn at night to to reshape the cornea. This provides a correction free vision for the wearer during the daytime – no need for glasses or contact lenses.

2013

Dr. Joserine Samson who joined the team as Optometrist and specialty contact lens practitioner three years earlier, qualified as an Orthokeratologist, enabling both young and old to have correction free vision during the day.

2015

Dr. Rana Daners joined us as a licensed surgeon with experience in cataract extraction, glaucoma surgical procedures, corneal disorders, age related macular degeneration and retinal detachments. She speaks fluent Arabic, English and German.

2017

Dr. Joserine Samson, whose passion is myopia control, became the First Elected Fellow of the British Contact Lens Association in the Middle East.

Dr. Jorina Fulgueras joined the team as an optometrist, specializing in pediatric optometry.
